about

Artist statement

At the heart of Tink Knits is a tapestry woven from the love of fine yarns, the charm of natural fibers, and the alchemy of color. Each Tink Knits piece invites you to feel—truly feel—the luxurious touch of materials chosen not only for their indulgent quality but for their ethical and local origins. This is where the magic happens: hand-dyed, small-batch yarns, each a canvas that captures the spirit of the artisan and the soul of the community.

With over two decades of dedication, Tink Knits has evolved from a personal journey into a shared experience. It’s about connection, the shared threads of history and innovation interlaced in every garment. ‘Tink,’ knit spelled backward, symbolizes the meticulous process of knitting—where each stitch counts, and the joy is in the making, even when it means taking a step back to perfect the craft.

My commitment is to create more than just a garment; it’s about sharing a piece of art that tells a story, that embraces the rich heritage of knitting, and reflects the individuality of the wearer. Knitting stands as one of the earliest forms of artistic expression, where the first loop cast on a needle marked the inception of an art as enduring as painting or sculpture. At Tink Knits, each selection of yarn and every intentional pattern ties us to this ancient tradition, where once, the choice to add color to an undyed yarn, or the addition of a simple cable stitch, transformed a utilitarian item into a piece of art. Tink Knits is an invitation to embrace the history of luxury fiber arts and discover the joy in each meticulously crafted piece.

In my hands, knitting needles become the brushes with which I paint, and yarns—rich with local heritage and hand-dyed hues—become my palette. The act of creating each garment is an expression of skill and love, where precision and patience merge to reveal the final art piece. My knitwear is crafted with a deliberate and artful approach, celebrating the legacy of fiber arts that has been stitched through history.

With Tink Knits, I strive to infuse each creation with the personality and soul of contemporary craft. As a knitter, I join a lineage of artists who have, for centuries, turned the ordinary into the extraordinary—where the addition of a pattern or a play of textures makes each piece a testament to both its roots and its maker.

This is the essence of my artistry: to honor knitting’s venerable heritage while crafting wearable art that speaks to today’s connoisseurs, who appreciate the blend of timeless technique and innovative design. It is here, in the interplay of yarn and needle, that the art of knitting boldly claims its place in the gallery of fine arts.

history

knitting as a fine art

Knitting stands as one of the earliest forms of artistic expression, where the first loop cast on a needle marked the inception of an art as enduring as painting or sculpture. At Tink Knits, each selection of yarn and every intentional pattern ties us to this ancient tradition, where once, the choice of color or the addition of a simple cable stitch transformed a utilitarian item into a piece of art.

In my hands, knitting needles become the brushes with which I paint, and yarns—rich with local heritage and hand-dyed hues—become my palette. The act of creating each garment is akin to a sculptor chiseling form from stone, where precision and patience merge to reveal the final art piece. Like a potter’s carefully shaped vessel or a jeweler’s finely set gem, my knitwear is crafted with a deliberate and artful approach, celebrating the legacy of fiber arts that has been stitched through history.

With Tink Knits, I draw upon this storied past, infusing each creation with the personality and soul of contemporary craft. As a knitter, I join a lineage of artists who have, for centuries, turned the ordinary into the extraordinary—where the addition of a pattern or a play of textures makes each piece a testament to both its roots and its maker.
